Antimicrobial resistance is causing a "silent pandemic" of infections that cannot be cured due to the lack of effective agents, leading to approximately five million deaths annually. According to experts, newer agents that can treat drug-resistant infections are expensive, making it difficult for poor people to access treatment. However, a local molecular laboratory such as Pradus Diagnostics, with less than 24-hour turnaround time for the respiratory, UTI, fungal, STI, vaginitis panel, and gastrointestinal, can help overcome these challenges. Pradus Diagnostics can provide faster, more accurate diagnoses and treatment for infections, leading to better outcomes and reducing the need for unnecessary antibiotic use. This can help to slow the spread of antimicrobial resistance and support the development of novel agents to combat resistant infections. Additionally, research is ongoing to develop innovative antibiotics that can overcome resistance, and there are currently 27 antibiotics in clinical trials against pathogens considered "critical" by the World Health Organization.
